Second, why are you so concerned about this guy - who, if you looked at that disturbing shot of his ugly face in that video a couple a weeks ago and his idiocy displayed here week after week, ISN’T worth it. And whether or not he likes you? Your apology? Get in his good graces? Oh, brother.

And Michael Mann’s Heat as the number one movie one of all time? Wow. Watch more film. Cinematography is suddenly synonymous with a DVD’s transfer? More lol.

If you’d seen Heat you’d understand what I’m talking about — there’s an odd quality to the DVD that must have something to do with the original, but wasn’t present in the original theatrical release. It’s all washed out in a weird way that could be because a) the original cinematography was flawed or b) the video transfer was flawed.

The driving point was that Heat isn’t even close to being in anyone’s top 5 except the most glib movie-watchers who still go ecstatic over the “Pacino, De Niro in one movie! OMG!” They’re incredible talents and it may be a fine movie but it’s nowhere but looking somewhat silly in a top 5 list.

Then again, why am I bothering to do this? Here’s a guy who called the Iron Man trailer the best he’d ever seen and was praising the graces of 300 a few months back. As well as posting about Michael Bay’s Transformers! Why even waste my time.

And I make no apologies for it. 300 was a great movie as well, Transformers did suck, but if you’ll notice my posts were purely on the technical aspects. And the Iron Man trailer is a fucking fantastic trailer. That you would choose to argue this is just evidence of your truculence.

If you are such a cultured and clever film connoisseur perhaps you’d care to educate us with some recommendations.

A great movie Heat may be but don’t try and negate your response into “for fans of a certain type of movie.” Your narrow and glib, that’s the bottom line.

300 was Snyder’s visual feast, nothing more, nothing less. He’ll likely do Watchmen no justice either. Yet the glib masses such as yourself will pour in.

And since you’re a fan of a “certain type of movie” I’ll leave you to your narrow ignorance and let you enjoy your glib viewpoints. Me doing a laundry list of important and truly first-tier cinema would do you no good. Pop in that 300 DVD and foam at the mouth, then be sure to slip in Heat and gawk at the juxtaposition of De Niro and Pacino in - gasp - the same shot.

Dreyer all offered films to me something full of more ingenuity and interest than Heat. And this is all before the 1930s even hit. There’s importance and ingenuity in the films above that deserve that #1 spot far more than any one of Mann’s efforts, as fine as they may be.

Then we have recent films: The Conversation, The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Fanny & Alexander (and pretty much all of Bergman’s oeuvre), The Third Man, Bicycle Thieves, The 400 Blows, Breathless and the rest of the Antoine Doinel series, Videodrome (and Cronenberg’s latest, Eastern Promises), Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr., Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, Citizen Kane, Punch Drunk Love, The Royal Tenenbaums…and so fourth. I could do this all day.

Give me a ****ing break with Heat. It shouldn’t be anywhere near the number one list on anyone’s list with any sense. You taking such anger towards this instead of feigning indifference like you did last time I made fun of your small package, is proof of how incredulous you must feel that you are just a senseless, lowbrow little porn site perv.
